About the film:

Ánne (57) attends a writing class. Fellow writers show prejudice against her being a Sami. In a writing assignment she shares a memory that affects deeply. 

About the director:

Screenwriter and director Sara Margrethe Oskal was a professional reindeerherder until she had to make a difficult choice and end her herding lifestyle. She holds a PHD in performing Arts from the National Academy of Arts, Oslo-Norway, researching "Sami humor and jester tradition in yoik, storytelling and contemporary stage expressions". She's an actress, a poet and was nominated to the Nordic Council Litterature price in 2016 with the poetry book «Savkkuhan sávrri sániid -Tireless words». In 2015 she made her debut as a film director with the short film "Aurora Keeps an Eye on You"  It left a strong impression and was screened in several prestigious international filmfestivals like TIFF-Tromsø, Gothenburg, Tampere, Toronto. Saughter of the Sun won best shortfilm "B3 Festival of the moving immage" Frankfurt am Main 2018. Her featurefilmdebut "Eallogierdu-The Tundra Within Me" worldpremiered in TIFF Toronto/Discovery section, september 2023.

About me in this:

In 2012-2013 I had the pleasure to be part of as part of the program "women of art" an initiative by "The Labor Research Institute, AFI" offering women in the arts and culture aiming at having leading position within the fields of performing arts, music, film and television, and teamed up with Sara Margrethe Oskal. She pitched her feature film idea, and asked me if I was interested in producing. Since she had an actrress background, I found it essential to first produce some shortfilms to understand her visual language."Aurora keeps an eye on you" 2015, "The daughter of the Sun" 2018 and Covid side effects 2021. We premiered Sara Margrethe's festure filmdebut  "Eallogierdu-The undra Within Me" Discovery program, TIFF Toronto, 2023.
